Love Yourself = Honor Yourself

The third ELAN Principle is Love Yourself. Yeah, yeah, we have heard it before. Easy to say, so hard to do. If love = honor, all the more difficult. After all, we are taught to be humble, and rightly so. But that does NOT mean to hold feelings of dishonor, derision or disrespect toward oneself. Consider God’s creations. Are we meant to ridicule the goofy looking platypus or sneer at the sniveling snake? We are called to honor all of God’s creations, from the majestic to the insignificant. So then, how can we ridicule and sneer at our own reflective selves? God is creative beyond our wildest imaginations, so much so that he made billions of us to be different and distinguishable from one another. YOU are one of His infinite masterpieces. Honor that. Love yourself.
