Fun fact: the span of your outstretched arms is approximately equal to your height. It’s a beautiful fact of Devine design, as illustrated by DaVinci in his Vitruvian Man.
Your reach far exceeds your span.
“We think in secret and it comes to pass – Our world is but our looking glass.” James Allen, 1864 – 1912.
As You Think, an updated version of James Allen’s As A Man Thinketh by Marc Allen (no relation) is short, simple and steeped in truth.
This book taught me that we are all master gardeners, planting seeds that must bring forth weeds or blooms, depending.
“If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein and will continue to produce their kind.”
We cast seeds in our world with nary a thought as to how, when or where they take root. We carry on with our lives, often lost in petty grievances or irritations. Meanwhile, our garden grows and multiplies, weeds among the blooms.
I strive to fill my own garden with colorful and various shoots of love and generosity, but too often, I allow weedy thoughts to take root. Allen encourages me to choose wisely the outward and inward words upon which I hang my heart.
Every act of human kindness, generosity and compassion adds to the bountiful garden of my world until it reaches beyond my wildest imagination.
