Ebb, flow; wax, wane; up, down. Cycles. Changes. Constant. I’m happy for the variety, even the occasional drag when some unexpected thing knocks me for a loop. The energy-sucking ebb and wane and down is temporary. Too many to-dos can zap our mental energy as we imagine a toppling avalanche. Physical down times bring a different type of tired, but the energy is sucked all the same. While my husband suffered a nasty cold, I flitted around like a butterfly. Full of energy, I was getting all the things done. Then a sore throat signaled a switch in our circumstances. Energy zapped, I’ve gone backwards, from a butterfly to a lowly sluggish caterpillar. We are out of sync as he recovers. He is wanting to make travel plans and tackle much needed moving-in projects, but I just want to curl up in my new reading spot. It’s temporary. I know that, and I know that one day soon all systems will be go as physical and mental energy ramps back to normal warp speed. Where are you in the cycle? Take advantage of the flow, the waxing and the up times. When the next attack of the energy suckers comes, you will have earned a well-deserved rest. And that’s okay. It’s all part of the cycle of change.
