What fills your media belly? 24-hour cycle of doom and gloom? Glossed, plucked and tucked “beautiful” people posing on a beach, seeking acceptance? If you are what you eat, then so are you what you forward, like, click and comment on. What we respond to via a push of a button builds our profile, just ask the streaming services. Where your hungry eyes fall determines your feed. Click through to a cheapo tunic and up pop more adds for crap you don’t need, possibly created by young children in deplorable conditions.
I’m careful about the food I ingest, doubly so after returning from a vacation where calories didn’t count (haha). I’m equally vigilant about images that stream across my eyes and into my subconscious. I happily like, share and comment on success stories of authors I know or admire. I support those who share their beauty and joy with the world, knowing that support will return to me as I do the same. Apologies for not posting surface beauty images to impress you. They are plentiful and often false. I’ll stick to words of encouragement and inspiration, for those are rare in today’s influencer-driven world of image over substance. Watch what you see; your social belly will thank you.
