Energy Cords…

When life ebbs and flows, I like to remember it is a natural cycle. I’ve learned to give in to the occasional slowness, recognizing it as fallow time, necessary for rest, rejuvenation, and even regrowth. Beyond our personal ups and downs, we are susceptible to outside forces that jazz or jade, depending on so many things. Energy cords can give or take away. A messy desk, a pile of dirty laundry or a disorganized closet drains me. Mess = stress, disarray is not okay (you get the picture). Much of my “procrastination” is spent on decluttering.

People can be energy cords, too. I’ve just returned from an amazing writers’ conference, where I frolicked and worked among other flamingos who are not ashamed of preening their bright plumes to serve a well-turned story. I hope you can experience the joy of hanging with like-minded, enthusiastic, and encouraging friends. It is like tapping directly into the electricity grid. Protect your personal power source, especially around those who can dial down your enthusiasm with a look, a scoff or a scowl. Rest when rest time is due, but when energy cords are giving their full positive power, hang on for a wildly productive and joyous time.
