Today and on and on down the writing road, I am reaching for a lofty goal: finish draft one of novel two, while doing the heavy lifting of pushing novel one out of the nest. I’ll have to spend double time on both projects, lest one be remaindered to the bottom drawer of the desk of forgotten things. It’s a long reach out of my comfort zone. Some days I just want to pretend to be a writer, in the same way I pretend to play piano when the mood hits me. But where will that get me? No closer to the hefty goal. It will take some stretching, but if I reach, I’ll make it.
