Fishing and Focusing…

The fourth ELAN Principle is Cast a Wide Net, with a subtitle of Focus on Your Goal. Sound confusing? In order to reap the benefits of focus, we must bring many experiences into our lives. So much about the ELAN principles (and these blog posts) is about uncovering our true passion based on innate characteristics and abilities. To do so, we must try on various possibilities and be open to new thoughts about our talents and how we might use them to serve our world – large or small. It seems counterintuitive, but by zooming out (expanding our horizon and experiences), we can zoom in to focus on a goal. You are a multi-faceted person with many talents and interests. How do I know this? I don’t, but did I guess right? Here is the truth of multi-faceted people: when they expand and increase effectiveness in one area, the other areas benefit. More to come next Monday. In the meantime – Honor yourself by casting your net in a new direction.

Hone a particular skill. Zoom out. Zoom in.
