Happy Easter Monday, the second day of Easter Week which is sometimes called the Octave of Easter; eight days spanning from Easter Sunday to “Bright” Sunday.
In the Christian tradition, the miracle of Christ’s resurrection is the most holy of celebrations. Easter stands for rebirth and renewal, perfectly coinciding with the bright green promise of Spring.
This year my Easter basket is filled with joyful nuggets of family time. A miracle of the sweetest kind, since our adult kids have chosen to live across the world for much of their child-rearing, family building years. What greater thing could a parent wish for than for their children to follow a call to serve as God leads them? So says my brain even when my heart is sometimes aching across the distance of half the world.
A necessary arc of the circle of life includes the fledglings leaving the nest so when they return, however temporary, it is the greatest gift.
In Wednesday’s Substack, I’ll explore the eggs I carry in my basket but for now, I celebrate that it is full of people and activity and noise and confusion and even a little chaos as our children and their children crowd our home during this season of rebirth and renewal. It is all Joy!
