Delight in the Light…

Yesterday was Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, and yet, it falls during the season of light; candles in various faith traditions flicker amidst strings of bulbs adorning houses and trees. While my family celebrates the birth of the Christ Child (in faith-based as well as commercial traditions), I appreciate and respect other cultural holiday expressions.

Whatever your celebration, I hope you take time to rest in the light of love that flows through you and around you in this time of shortened days and lengthened TO DO lists. May the colors and sparkles that bling up your world remind you that light wins out over darkness. There is love and peace within sight and within reach. My Holiday Wish for you is a restful time with your loved ones, detached from the worries of the world, free of the shackles of consumerist calls for more, more and filled with whispers of love and acceptance. May you delight in the light of the season, however you celebrate.

To honor my own practice to do less rather than more during this season, I will be taking a reading sabbatical until January, a time of gathering for future harvests. Until then have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
