Free Music…

I was fortunate to attend three music concerts this past weekend, all of them free. Friday, I saw David Byrne with my sister-in-law. (More Wednesday on Confessionsofacreative.substack.com). Saturday, I sat in the sunshine to watch our grandson play in a local Jazz Band. Sunday, we weathered freezing temperatures for a repeat performance at a different venue. If you appreciate the power and promise of music, you know what a gift this was. Creating, playing or listening to music can lift and energize. Even playing the blues helps to settle them a bit. In a continuing theme of noticing and voicing gratitude for gifts, this seems like a culmination of recognizing beauty in my world and giving thanks for every bit of it. It means looking at the world through a lens of thankfulness and wonder. It has been my experience that the more I recognize gifts and graces in my life, the more they appear. Maybe it is just a matter of observing my world, paying attention to things that enrich my life and giving thanks always. Turn your vision toward good and you may be surprised in what form it may appear, even free music.
