Last Wednesday I saw a book title promoting healing through psilocybin and I imagined gazing at the sky, lost in a kaleidoscope of brilliant colors. Not from experience, but from curious wonder.
Thursday something called Keith House appeared on my map as I searched for weekend events. Wonder of wonders, this new spot was hosting a concert that night celebrating the new installation of James Turrell’s Skyspace. Gotta love synchronicity. A book title got me wondering then an unknown venue caught my attention just in time to buy a ticket.
I’ll post more about Turrell and his Skyspaces (99 to date) here on Wednesday. They are typically sparce buildings with a square aperture in the roof through which visitors watch the sky appear to change colors based on varying ambient light. It sounds boring, simple and so meh – sitting with a few dozen strangers reclining on benches to look through that square hole. I’ll share photos on Wednesday to illustrate the magic of this space but be warned, you won’t believe they are of the sky. God the Great Creator added a few wispy clouds to prove that point. The evening was magical and serendipitous. I gave thanks for an unexpected opportunity to do some straight trippin’ – getting high on life alone, no substances necessary, surrounded by the beauty and peace that James Turrell promotes through his art. I fell in love with Keith House, a direct result of seeking N E W things to do. What’s got you trippin’ on life? Pay attention, wonder surrounds you.
