Adventure Awaits…

I love adventures. Friends have hiked the Camino de Santiago in Spain or climbed ancient steps to Machu Pichu. One day I may add them to my own big escapades that include exploring the underground villages of Cappadocia and the sacred churches of Lalibela. While some adventures stand out as exciting or unusual, they don’t overshadow the last minute or even mundane ones. A mere expression of “Off we go!” can ramp up enjoyment of a trip to the grocer or a routine walk around the park. My favorite treks include a kidlet or two. Once we brought a magnifying glass and a box to collect our found treasures. Another time, we checked off items on a chart, staying alert for squirrel sightings or filigree on windows and doors. Mere walks can become non-curated visits to the museum of the world. Sometimes I bring along a character I’m writing when they don’t know what to do or have a problem to work out. Who says imaginary friends aren’t real? Adventures stretch our imaginations, they teach, they expose, they enlighten, and they can be as close as your neighborhood. Whatever you have planned for the day, why not make it an adventure?
