Naysayers love to chop down those who ride waves of creative passion. Don’t listen to their words meant to sink the boat you alone can float. Instead, find or create a community of like-minded, passionate encouragers. Shut your ears to those who try to absorb you into their reality which is fraught with sinking vessels. Your world will not be served by words intended to tie you to the pier. When you come across one who is bent on discouragement, I hope you walk away. Understand they may be clueless as to the work, the study, the research, the craft-building in which you have joyfully engaged. Consumers who easily acquire objects often assume it was just as easy to bring them to reality. It’s a simple thing to buy a book but those of us working toward actual publication know the truth behind the struggle. Yes, there will be choppy waves and discouraging waters but keep on keepin’ on. Your particular boat will find safe harbor. Until then, ride the wave, guided by your inner voice that knows the way to higher seas. Let the naysayers have their downer way but shut your ears to what they say.
