What pops into your head at the thought of love? Valentine’s Day? Your sweetie? Kitty cats and puppy dogs? Fear can keep us from venturing toward love. If love is given, it can be taken away. Loving our neighbors, all neighbors, is driven by our thoughts about love. If it is too precious to be shared, we’ll be stingy in our expression of love, or worse, cower all alone in a protective corner. What if we believed in the infinite quality of love, that the magic formula is to freely spend it? To be extravagant in our love toward our pets (easy), our family members (not quite so much), our friends (as long as they behave) and strangers (what? That’s going a bit too far) is a wild idea. Imagine freely lavishing love on all living beings despite their behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, appearances or wrong doing. Radical. Bizarre. Just for today, buy into the idea of infinite love. Let go, more and more, and see if it doesn’t come back to you manyfold. Be brave. Put fear aside and just love.
