The Good Tired…

Is there such a thing? Life is all about balance and rhythm; ebb and flow, energetic and fallow times. There is beauty in honoring the swing with corresponding action or rest, physically and mentally. My calendar has been packed full all year. Saturdays and Sundays continue to be Boom Boom days, coming on the heels of productive writing and reading weekdays. There’s barely time for things like cleaning and cooking, forget organizing and laundry. Yet I carve out snippets of time to practice drumming, piano and other music. Best of all, I’m inching closer to a guts and heart-filled first draft of my second novel. I’m good tired, my internal coil slowing down for a solid night’s sleep until the fresh day rewinds it. Good tired is sharp. Focused. Passionate. It’s taut muscles and quick mind. In the up and down world of give and take, it’s temporary. I recognize that as I zing through the days, skipping and bounding forward. This good tired will eventually lead to a recognized and needed down time. That’s okay. In the grand scheme, I’m thankful for these spurts of energy that wind me up to carry me through times of rest, for they will come. It’s all good.
