What’s the Big Idea?…

Somehow the little things get taken care of. The cooking gets done, the dishes, the laundry without scheduling uninterrupted chunks of time. Sure, my house is not sparkling and we eat a lot of salad (no complaints here, fresh veggies and homemade dressing, yes, please). My paper and digital files are a mess, but our bodies are full and clothed in clean, maybe wrinkly, clothes. And guess what? I’m loving time in my writing closet, putting the guts and heart to the bones draft of my second novel. That’s a big thing. Had I placed the little things first, a few limp and unformed pages would be wallowing in a file somewhere, waiting for that day when all the laundry, all the cleaning, all the cooking, all the eating, all the email, all the social scrolling, all the streaming watching, all the fun times with friends, all the providing a shoulder for tears or ears for listening to loved ones were completely done, finished, crossed off the eternal list. Do you get that? It is never done. Never. Put the big things first. The little things will fall in the cracks and somehow the world won’t stop. It will be thankful for your work on your own Big Idea.
