What are you giving to your world? What are you receiving in return? There’s a connection, you know. Years ago, I saw a skit that involved women carrying buckets filled to the brim with an attitude unique to each one. Life took over, the world bumped into them, and their contents spilled. What a memorable visual that was. The first woman to get jostled was a grump. You can imagine the vitriol that spewed forth from her mouth. Some of her droplets landed in the buckets of others, spoiling their attitude within. A cascade of insults ensued as anger ramped up. Until another woman was bumped and love and forgiveness and generosity overflowed. Her fresh, pure water acted as a cleansing agent to wash away the bitterness.
I hate to admit it, but my home bucket is dirtier than my out-in-the-world bucket. Like you, my life is a work in progress. I can improve my response to life’s bumps and jostles by choosing the inner attitude that fills me to the brim. What is in your bucket? What inner attitude spills forth into your world when life bumps into you? You have the ability to choose your response.
