Today. What a gift. Tomorrow will soon enough be today, another gift. What adjective describes your today? Joyful? Frenetic? Harried? Celebratory? How many decisions will you make and how will those inform your tomorrow? Today has a lot of work to do. No matter how you spend these 24 hours, it is churning away in the background, barely noticed. Today is making things happen. I admit to spending a few minutes (sometimes more) on games, puzzles and binge-watching non-educational or guilty pleasure streaming content. I’m okay with that. Some mindless rest is necessary, but so is feeding the hungry jaws of tomorrow by engaging in brain-building, goal-achieving, life-moving activities. As I write this, my today has been productive despite boom, boom, boom events at 8, 9:30, 11 and noon – an extra challenge with losing an hour due to Daylight Savings Time (which I love). What I did yesterday set up today to be full of energy, excitement, and time for some previously neglected tasks. As today darkens into tonight (an hour later), I’ll feel very good about short-term goals accomplished and steps taken toward the long-term ones. Thank you, all the yesterdays, for doing the work to make today a good day.
