Mantras Make Things Happen…

Another ELAN Principle is “Make Things Happen.” ELAN, which stands for Elevating Life Attitudes Now, is a self-improvement curriculum I created and facilitated many years ago, but I still rely on the tenets to work on my own “life in progress.” One of the most effective ways to make things happen is to write a Belief Statement in the “Positive Sense and Present Tense.” First, make a list of your successes, then a collage (vision board) of things you wish to accomplish. Be careful – they just might come true! Build a belief statement on your strengths and goals. Remember, it must be positive and present. “I want to stop…” won’t work, nor will “One day, I’ll be…”. Try one out for a week. Write it on a card and place it where you will see it every morning. Repeat the positive and present mantra to replace discouraging or destructive words invading your mind. Remember the examples of faulty mantras shared on Monday’s blog? Imagine where my life could lead if I replaced them with “I care about all others, especially those I don’t agree with,” and “Today I create beauty for my world, large or small.” Watch Your Mantra – it Makes Things Happen.
