How do you add beauty to your world? A fresh, home-cooked meal, or listening to (even playing) your favorite song? Where have you been surprised by joy? A red geranium in a window box, morning birdsong or a tiny flower sprouting in cracked concrete? Zen is found in quiet moments wrapped in wonder.
Turn off the noise of impending doom invading your silence, including conversations that steal your peace. Take a discovery walk for the sole purpose of noticing delight. Perhaps the faces of passersby reflect it back to you. Offer a smile, especially to those deemed unworthy by the powers that be.
Imaginary worlds inhabited by quirky characters wrap me in joy that only I can create. The power of black squiggles on a white page can discourage or destroy by unfounded fear, or it can build up and encourage. My words may silently fall to an unseen page. No matter, there are infinite combinations from which to choose. Look for and add beauty to your world, especially when it seems to be spiraling downward. Fill your home, your senses, and your heart with that which brings you peace. Focus on things that create and build up rather than destroy or tear down. Find Zen Again.
