Little Drummer Boy/Girl…

While drumming with the Joy of Djembe Drumming Ensemble, I feel peace wash over me as we send harmonious vibrations up and out. I hold visions of all peoples connecting via a common thrum within. A heartbeat. A need for love and connection. Acceptance of all. How glorious that vision. My human mind tells me it will not happen. Not on top of this physical globe overflowing with bodies and hearts so bent on intolerance of differing views to the point of war. Yet most would say they pray for peace, even those who carry guns in their pockets and purses. Do you see that disconnect? I am challenged to set aside judgement and outrage toward those I deem destructors of peace. I am called to love. ALL others. Breaking through the worry and doom, I create my own bubble of peace within my heart by playing an instrument, sending good vibrations into the wider world. Just for today leave hatred at home. Remove the ammo from any firearms of death. Take up instruments of peace. May you be the drummer in your own small world, calling others to the love exemplified on this Christmas Day. Drum, strum, pick, pluck or hum. Every note strengthens the global, peace-filled thrum.
