One of the many things I gleaned from the recent conference I attended was the distinction between those who are bent on destruction and those who champion creativity. It is one of the many catchy dualities into which we love to divide the world. Night owls and morning people; cold-natured, hot-natured; extrovert, introvert; blue or red? Our world is not black and white. We live in a gray reality, varying degrees of black and white mingling in a swirl of both. Still, we like to categorize, perhaps to simplify or understand. The question of whether my actions cause destruction or creation had me thinking. One thing I know about myself is that I am creative in many ways, but that doesn’t prevent me from at times unwittingly choosing the more destructive path. Recently, I was prepared for battle over an imagined conflict until I saw the destruction of it, regarding the relationship. Which side was I on? Actively choosing to build up rather than tear down changed my approach, and the outcome. This week think about which side you are on. Are you choosing destruction or creation? What a beautiful world this is thanks to those who choose the latter.
