I attend writers’ conferences, online classes and zoom groups to learn layers and layers of craft techniques, and to build community. These time-consuming, money-spending, single-focusing events also connect me to my deep, creative soul.
Last week I had one conference goal: to clearly discern my next step(s). In one master class, I was encouraged to tap into my resplendent, eternal subconscious, the ever-ready wise counselor where creativity lives (thanks Adriana!). I strengthened my conversation within. I asked. I listened. I ignored worldly interruptions and blew through blocks. When the elevator opened as I approached, no one in or out to push the button, I noted the opening rather than limit it to coincidence. When a clear-through writing path began to illuminate, I asked more questions. How can I best spend time and resources next year? Should I return or pursue other options? I committed to a new-to-me writers’ workshop AND I won the bookstore raffle – tuition paid for next year’s conference. I have not been so excited for a very long time. Not for the money, (although yay!) but for the validation. I’ll follow this direction. I’ve known, deep down, it was right all along. Ask your resplendent subconscious, your eternal creative soul for your next step and then really listen. Let me know how it goes!
