It is the only way to be authentic in a world of others. So often we find ourselves living out someone else’s idea of a life. I hope that is not the case for you. May you know exactly what floats your boat and have many opportunities to ride the high seas of your particular passion, perhaps serving your own corner of the world.
I have a daily journal filled with simple quotes about happiness. Goethe offered these words last week: “He who is and remains true to himself and to others has the most attractive quality of the greatest talents.” Yes, please. I would like some of those greatest talents and a dose of the most attractive quality. Is it really as simple as keying into your authentic, God-given abilities, honing those talents and then offering them to your world, large or small? Perhaps. Step one: Ignore the loud shouts of the world that suggest you are lacking or not enough. Step two: Hang out in the easy, fun zone. Step three: embody Thoreau and “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.” Give your true self to the world, it’s not interested in anything less.
