Life can be a drag. It seems all gloom, fear and scare. But going down the long road of towering worries leaves me wanting to stay in bed, curled in a ball to fend off the looming sense of doom.
Have I lost my followers yet? Those who expect a moment of joy or uplift in their inboxes three days a week? Don’t go anywhere. Here’s the uptick. In the midst of turmoil there is beauty and joy. We only have to pay attention. This very moment is filled to the brim with loving and laughing people who share the air around you. Look at the faces of strangers as they pass by. Just a glimpse, their mug shot, if you will. Pay attention and you’ll see one smile or laugh. You’ll see twinkling eyes, maybe even a nod, an acceptance, a welcome. For this week I will turn off news feeds, social media posts and weather reports. I’ll fix my face into a genuine smile to offer strangers. One that sends a beacon of hope to a world that seems to be breaking apart. Seek smiling faces, then adjust your own mug shot to welcome others to a world filled with hope, acceptance, and love.
