Lace ’em Up…

We know to put important things first, even when they are not the most fun, like exercise. If I put it off, or don’t add it to my daily list, it’s often past a decent bedtime before I remember. Then what? There’s always tomorrow. Or the next day. See what happens there? One forgotten link builds a mighty weak chain. So, I start the day with my shoes laced up. It tricks my brain, even if it means hopping on the elliptical instead of braving triple digit temps to walk in our glorious city park. That simple task, first thing, sends jolts of energy to my day. Multiple trips up and down stairs seem easier, even more fun with athletic shoes to add spring to each step. I know exerting energy creates more, like winding a watch. Letting it run down results in, well, feeling run down. As much as I love an occasional jammie day, they must be a rarity. A reward for a week of working, writing and yes, walking. Lace ‘em up first thing to add energy and lightness to your day. Then when a friend calls to suggest a walk, you can say “Let’s go! I am already laced up.”

    Love this! It’s so true.

I find that when I put my tennis shoes on and get ready for the day, I’m more likely to get those “To Do List” things done and just feel better overall! Funny how simply putting on our shoes can trigger so much productivity!
