Rally…

It’s no secret I am not a morning person. I prefer to stay up into the next calendar day and sleep the morning away. There are times when the big wide world has other plans. Recently, the Joy of Djembe Drumming Ensemble was asked to perform on a morning news show to promote the local Children’s Museum Juneteenth Celebration. We played for all of two minutes after nearly an hour of checking in and waiting around. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Anytime we get to create music together is a joy and doubly so when it is on a live television set, with four unmanned cameras whirring and swiveling to catch the best shots. I was fascinated by whatever technology was driving them even though they creepily resembled futuristic robots with minds of their own. Despite my reluctance to wake before the sun took off its nightshades, I said yes to the commitment and was rewarded yet again. What opportunities are calling to you, maybe outside of your comfort zone? Put doubts or even lazy habits aside. Rally, maybe even voicing a hearty “Off I Go!” and see what happens.
