Yes, Please…

A friend had a last-minute opportunity to go to the ballet and she asked me to join her. Yes, please! Sitting in the beautiful theater, soaking in all the sights and sounds, I was thankful for the dancers who seemed to effortlessly move their bodies through space and time. My gratitude extended to the hundreds of people it must take to pull off such a production. The varied music needed an orchestra and a conductor. How many rehearsals must there have been until the visible and invisible created what I was privileged to observe? The sets were simple, so simple, yet they added to the multi-sensory experience. Even the lighting, changing hues and intensity informed the experience. And the costumes! From flouncy tutus to stripped down body suits, every detail had been chosen for a purpose. While others were standing, clapping and adding shouts of Bravo and Brava, I wanted to yell, “I ‘preciate ya!” but I only offered silent thanks. For all the artists, of every type, who work to bring beauty to our often hurting world. When anyone offers me a chance to join them for art of any kind, if at all possible, I say “Yes, please.”
