I recently had one of those days that made me go whew. It was the day after I’d returned late from an excursion, let’s call it an adventure. No time to do laundry or replenish the pantry. I left home early in the morning and hopped from one pebble in the river of my day to another. Meetings, both in person and via zoom, stacked up in a perfect alignment of stars in the scheduling universe. Four hours later I traveled cross-town to attend an art event at which some of my drummer friends were performing. It would have been so easy to pack it in and go home to another cup of coffee after donning loungewear. Instead, I packed the event (not the last of the day, mind you) into my already busy day. Did it wear me out? The opposite. Was I glad I attended? One hundred times yes. Any opportunity to hear live music (the bonus this day was the venue – an art gallery where a few of my creative friends display their beautiful creations) is an automatic yes!
The next time you have a choice between packing it in and calling it a day or packing an art or music event on top of your crowded schedule, rally the forces and say bring it on! It may just energize you. If not, there will be time to rest tomorrow.
