This Wednesday I am pushing against some self-imposed deadlines, while being pulled toward new and exciting goals. I have recently participated in a constructive pitching roundtable (during which I felt both woefully unprepared and unexpectedly encouraged) while continuing online classes with the Kauai Writers Conference. Pushing to refine and refine and refine novel pitches, loglines and queries can feel a bit like slogging through quicksand while wearing chainmail. Same with pulling together the best first two, five or ten pages of novel number one in case anyone wants to see my actual stuff. AND creating a 7000-word excerpt from same novel for yet another application. BUT I am so excited to be pushing to prepare while being pulled toward the Kauai Writers Conference (cancelled in 2020 and 2021 – I wonder why ;)). Look for more Wednesday Wandering posts to find out if a suddenly vocal volcano at a nearby island does anything to disrupt those plans!
